Again a bright sunny day. Holds a lot of promise. And I guess if it rains here, it won’t be such a bad thing.
The road is beautiful to begin with. Very well behaved traffic. And the thought of crossing the historic site of Udaipur. I have never been to this part of the country and I am excited. I am fast becoming a rarer sight as I head farther into the country. Village kids are the most excited lot with the elders very very worried about the heavy thick jacket making me feel hot. I assuage their feelings and answer the kids’ questions. As I sip my chai and tell them about life in Mumbai, people listen starry eyed about this world they have never known but from stories. I tell them what I do and what I am doing on the road (though I don’t seem to have any decent answer to that). Its a different world out there.
As I crossover into Rajasthan, the differences are immediately visible. Dust storms gather as if receiving me into its territory. It was grand. And blinding.
Rajasthan was a whole different ballgame. Traversing the Aravallis was one of the most wonderful rides I have had. Long rolling corners around the hills. Speeding at 90 on silky smooth roads. It was bliss. Pure bliss. Almost like meditation.
Udaipur was busy as expected but got over faster than I thought. The roads after that were no different. Truckers and bus drivers were all nicely behaved. The whole way I completely forgot about the pain I had in my butt and hands. Then Ajmer happened. Its a nice little town. Very nice people. Met another Bulleteer who helped me to a hotel. Made the hotel chap run around for everything from fags to Old Monk. Peaceful sleep. Ready for hitting Delhi.
