Day 34 Jaipur to Delhi

When I woke up, I was still heavy with last night’s dinner. But itching to get to Delhi, enter a service centre and get the chain and front sprocket replaced. I was hating riding with something that I knew shouldn’t be the way it was.

You see Royal Enfield makes decent motorcycles. People have all sorts of opinions as do I. About power, handling, its image and capabilities. But one thing that most people from across the breadth of the country have agreed upon is that they don’t make enough spares for handling the rush of sales the company has been seeing over the last couple of years. My mechanic had implored me against taking a 500 saying spares will become a problem. Well it has. But I guess now there is no point complaining.

I leave Jaipur at around 10 am. Guided towards a shortcut through Amer, I am soon out of city limits and cross Jal Mahal and Amer Fort.

Then again met the friendly neighbourhood elephants for a photoshoot.

Jaipur to Delhi is not more than a 5 hour trip so I was taking it easy. Called up one of the dealers close to the place I will be staying. Unfortunately he is on leave today but will get my work done tomorrow. Thankfully he has the sprocket in stock. Relief.

Hitting Gurgaon after NH8 is always a completely nauseous feeling. All the traffic and the urban mess after the blissful if bumpy existence of the villages is sobering. In any case, I meet up with a couple of my friends on the way and proceed to meet others. Dinner at Zafran in GK and lots of chit chatting around. This is the second time in a month that I have met people I know. You have no idea what kind of relief it is to be among friends again.

Phase I is over.
